Calls to “turn left!” or “turn right!” lead to blind alleys. Democrats don’t need a new “message.” Tactics are overrated. The candidates were just fine. No, Democrats lacked something far more fundamental–a compelling policy agenda. The party charged into battle without a set of proposals that addressed big issues. Sure, Democrats should get tough, and a spell in the minority will give them no choice. But bold opposition requires strong policies....

But it might be too late to matter by the time House investigators get their hands on the documents. While the Treasury Department has not outlined a timeline for when it plans to release the returns—saying only in a statement that it plans to comply with lawmakers’ request—Democrats have fewer than two months left in the House majority, and just 15 working days left on the congressional calendar. Without a majority, Democrats won’t be able to do much with the returns when they receive them....

Republicans have largely backed former President Donald Trump’s assertion that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine last week would have “never” happened if he were still in office. On Tuesday, Representative Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) blasted Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) over pinning blame for the invasion on Biden’s policies during a House hearing on a bill to expand health care benefits for veterans....

The survey, conducted by All In Together, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing women’s civic leadership, found that the majority of the 1,000 respondents believed a Democrat can beat Trump, but gave the current president a 9-point edge when asked to predict the outcome if “the Democratic nominee is a woman.” Still, respondents said they would vote for a female candidate and 58 percent said that “the increase in female candidates has been a good thing for the country....

Demon’s Souls is full of iconic weapons for players to collect and use, so this list is in no way comprehensive. Obviously, many weapons such as typical longswords, short bows, wooden catalysts and the like will be present in both Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, but these are rather unique offerings found in both games. Sometimes players need to manipulate their World Tendency to get these weapons, while others are simply obtained through boss souls or by getting to hard to reach areas....

After all, it is a remake and not a remaster. This means the game is getting more than a paint job, it’s being rebuilt from the ground up by an establish remake pro. Fans can expect fixes, new content, and more for the game, but one thing remakes occasionally do is restore cut content. There’s a lot of reasons certain content doesn’t make it into a game, including technical limitations, but with Demon’s Souls Remake coming to PS5, that’s probably not a concern....

The paper published in the Journal of Gerontology: Medical Sciences linked carrying two faulty copies of the APOE gene to a two-fold risk of having severe COVID-19 from the baseline. There are three different versions of the APOE gene: e2, e3, and e4. E3 is the most common. Past research has shown that e4 raises the risk of developing dementia, while two copies of e4e4 is linked with a 14-fold risk of developing Alzheimer’s in those of European descent compared with carriers of e3e3 in this group....

The campaign for Cal Cunningham, a married father-of-two, admitted that the text messages sent between him and former staffer Arlene Guzman Todd, were authentic, but insisted that he would not drop out of the race. First reported by National File, one of the text messages read: “Would make my day to roll over and kiss you about now,” with another from Guzman saying, “I have flexibility this month — done with school, training, big RFPs, etc....

The same Mitch McConnell, who pledged to make former President Barack Obama a one-term president through a universal obstruction to everything, is already using the same playbook again. Let’s be clear. The party of Donald Trump, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and Senators Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz is not serious about governance....

According to two separate congressional forecasts, Democrats have a roughly eight-in-ten chance of winning a majority in the upper chamber, and an almost 100 percent chance of maintaining or building on their majority in the lower chamber.
