The speculation around Deltarune Chapter 3 has been rife on the internet, with Toby Fox giving somewhat consistent updates on the game. However, in his latest Twitter post, he confirmed that there would be no new chapters for this year. Fox didn’t give a date on when fans could get a release date for Deltarune Chapter 3, but if the launch is anything like the previous chapters, it will likely come as somewhat of a surprise.

Something that Fox did comment on was that fans could expect “something special” for the anniversary of Undertale and Deltarune’s second chapter. What this could be is unknown, but with Fox’s final sentence saying he’ll see fans next week, it seems they’ll be getting more information then. With Fox marking the “something special” as a celebration of both Undertale and Deltarune, it seems he is reinforcing the idea that the two are connected in more ways than just their aesthetic.
While fans have been assured from his development updates that Toby Fox is hard at work on Deltarune’s latest chapter, he has also been assisting the development of other IPs. Most recently, Toby Fox revealed that he composed music for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. While this was confirmed back in June, Fox revealed in August what tracks he’d actually composed, and they were the music that players will hear when involved in raid battles.
Considering that Toby Fox aims to give fans Deltarune Chapters 3, 4, and 5 all at the same time, it isn’t exactly surprising that he has stated there won’t be any new content added to the game for the rest of 2022. For now, it seems that fans will have to be content with playing through the game’s first couple of chapters in the hopes that, with a new Nintendo Direct in 2023, some more Deltarune content might drop.
Deltarune is out now for PC, PS4, and Switch.
